History
Following the devistating fire of 1914 and the use of a temporary wooden kitchen and dining hall, the College constructed to the northeast of College Hall a one-story dining hall and kitchen of brown brick. It measured 134 feet by 50 feet, with an 18-foot basement that housed a heating and power plant. Begun in early February, the Dining-Hall-Kitchen had cost about $10,000. This essential building was soon furnished and serving the College well; the heating plant "was working like a charm". When the kitchen and dining services moved to Mooney Hall in 1934, this building became the site of the first Huie Library.
