History
On the east section of the Country Club Addition near Highway 67, which the College had purchased in 1965 as part of its North Campus initiative, Henderson located mobile homes for married couples. By November 15, 1967, the College had completed the installation of 32 mobile homes. Completely furnished, each trailer had central heat and air-conditioning. On January 11, 1968, the Board authorized “the acquiring of additional mobile homes not to exceed 20". In 1969, Henderson listed 42 two-bedroom units available as housing for married couples.
Upon the expiration on June 30, 1977, of the ten-year lease on the mobile homes for married students, the University terminated the contract. Fourteen units owned by Henderson were then remodeled for continued use by married couples without children. These homes were eventually phased out, but by 1980, Garrett Hall and 14 mobile homes still housed married couples.
