History

In 2004, Henderson’s chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon completed the purchase of a new fraternity house. Since moving out of their old house, which then became the International Student Center, the fraternity had been homeless for almost five years. “We just weren’t able to occupy and tend to a house built to support 32 or more people. The bills alone were killing us,” said 2004 Sig Ep president Thomas Nichols.

The four bedroom, two bath house was located about a block from Henderson. From the front yard, one could see Arkansas Hall, Reynolds Science Center, and the International Student Center. A spacious parking lot was nearby.

The Sig Eps received the money for the house from “[their] generous alumni”. Resident members of the fraternity paid for the basic upkeep, bills and other items. The keys to the new house were given to the fraternity in April, with brothers moving in at the beginning of the summer.

The house was sold in 2014 and the chapter is currently inactive.
