History
The base and location of the Sun Dial changed slightly over the years, but seem to have always been on the South Lawn. In 1950, in a special ceremony on the front campus as part of the annual meeting, the Class of 1940 restored the Sun Dial in "memory of the members of their class who had lost their lives in and after World War Two".
