"Military drills afford an excellent opportunity for physical training and exercise, and also furnish a splendid form of mental training and discipline. For these purposes, the young men of Henderson are organized into a cadet battalion of two companies. Drills take place four times a week, from the first of September until the first of May. The cadet officer are selected from those cadets who have been most studious, soldierlike in the performance of their duties, and most exemplary in their general conduct. In general, cadet commissioned officers are taken from the senior class, the sergeants and corporals from the other college classes." 1910. See page 170 of Bledsoe vol. 1.
